F. Bain received the following telegram from the War Department Tuesday-- Mr. John F. Bain, Deeply regret to inform you that it is officially reported that Pvt. Earl Bain, Infantry, died about Nov. 19. Cause of death to be detained. Harris. Adj. Gen. Friends here have received no word from Earl for several months and it has been feared that he was dead, tho no official notice has been received until now. Sincere sympathy is felt for the family who have waited long and anxiously for some word from the soldier boy. The deep blue star in the window there, Is replaced with a star of gold, The soldier lad is sleeping where The tide of battle rolled. But our hearts and thoughts to him are bound With memory's golden chain, All honor to him who in death profound Will never come back again. ========================================================================= USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, material may be freely used by non-commercial entities, for their private use as long as this message remains on all copied material, AND permission is obtained from the contributor of the file.
