World War I - Clair Sodergren Newspaper Clipping Contributed by Amalea Anderson This information was copied from an unidentified, undated newspaper clipping found in the book, "Washington County in the World War". Note: Wayland is in Henry County, Iowa. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Clair Sodergren is Home Mrs. C. A. Sodergren was the happiest woman in Wayland last Thursday morning, and Carl was considerably tickled "hisself" when their son, Claire, stepped in upon them unannounced. Clair arrived at Camp Dodge on Saturday, Feb. 8 from Camp Mills, New York, where he was sent on arrival from France. Clair has been gone 17 months. He has never asked for or received a leave of absence. He gave his services unreservedly to his country and remained with the Army until he received an honorable discharge. He has been in France about three months. Although he arrived too late to get into the fight. We are certainly proud of Claire and bid him a warm hearted welcome home. ======================================================================= USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, material may be freely used by non-commercial entities, for their private use as long as this message remains on all copied material, AND permission is obtained from the contributor of the file.
