Arrison, Perkins, A marriage license was issued last week in Rock Island Co., Ill to Frank W. Arrison of Davenport, Ia and Emily Perkins of Muscatine, Ia. - Friday, 20 January 1882. Astner, Miss Hannah Astner, about 20, of Rock Island, Ill. Went to visit her brother in Marshalltown, Ia a few weeks ago. She died last Tues. and was buried there on Thursday. -Saturday 21 Jun 1879. Em M. Cralle born in Campbell Co., Oh, 29 Apr 1826 died Wed. He was a member of Co. G., 98th Ill Inf and came to Arsenal Island as a soldier during the war. He married Mrs. Hamor 30 Apr 1878, his first wife dying 11 years ago. He had 12 children including Levi Cralle of Moline, Mrs. Reeves of Grinnell, Ia, five other in Moline, one in Massachusetts. -Fri. 10 Jun 1881. Dalzell, Jas. M. former resident of Moline and for some years an active businessman in Davenport, died Sunday. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. - Friday 29 July 1881. L., of Moline, has had word from his father living in Newton, Ia that Charles E., an elder brother absent for 15 yrs, returned on Wednesday and proposed to take his aged father to his own home. -Thursday 3 Feb 1881. Eldridge, Brown, Lippincott. Duncan Campbell Eldridge, age 83 died at his home in Davenport, Ia yesterday. He was born in Woodbury, NJ on 30 Aug 1801, a son of Josiah and Sarah Eldridge also natives of New Jersey. They moved to Haddonfield, NJ when Duncan was eight years old. Here he learned the bricklayer's and plaster's trades. He married Rachel Brown on 8 Jan 1823, In May 1825 he moved to Rochester, NY where his wife, the mother of three children, died in 1827. His second marriage was to Rebecca Luppincott on 4 Nov 1829 at Cincinnati, Oh. She was born in New Jersey, the daughter if Micajah and Sarah Luppincott, natives of New Jersey. Of their seven children two are living, Charles H. and Micajah L. Mr. Eldredge moved to Galena, Ill in 1835 and in 1836 opened a store where Davenport now stands. His daughter, Sarah, was born 3 Mar 1837, the first white female child born in Davenport. -Friday 6 Oct 1882. Ellis, Grover. Mrs. Belle Ellis, niece of H. H. Grover, formerly a teacher here, died at Wilton Junction, Ia last Tuesday. Her remains were brought here yesterday and the funeral was at the Baptist Church. -Friday 22 March 1878. Mrs. Graham and three children from Council Bluffs, Ia have been visiting at the Jack Wells old homestead in Watertown, Ill. Her sister, age 15 is not expected to live. They are daughters of Mrs. Annie Hass, a widow. -Friday 7 Jul 1882. Hatch, Cook, Ainsworth, whittaker, Dimick. Joshua H. Hatch, second mayor of Rock Island, Ill., died in California last week. He married the daughter of the late Capt. Z. Cook, formerly County Treasurer , and a sister of the Mdms. Charles R. Ainsworth, Whittaker, and O. J. Dimick. Mr. Hatch went to California in 1852 and returned to Des Moines, Ia., where he became Mayor and later State Senator. --24 Jun 1881. Haveck, Hannes, of Davenport, Ia., died Friday, aged 35 years. He was a native of Schinkel, Prussia and was a school teacher. -Friday 22 Dec 1882. Haviland. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Haviland of Fort Dodge, Ia., have been in town for the past week seeing their sick brother, e. H. Haviland, He died of heart disease at the residence of his nephew, just above the city, on Wednesday morning. The body was taken to Princeton, Ill., for interment. -Fri 15 1878. Mrs. Sarah Heck, whose maiden name was Wivill, aged 84 last Mar. 22, died this Thursday. She was born in Westmoreland Co., Pa., and married John Heck on 30 Aug 1814. They came to Rock Island, Co., Ill., in May 1844. Of 13 children, these are now living: Phillip, Elizabeth, widow of Josiah Gamble, William, Rachel, wife of John Willis of Creston, Ia., George, James f., Josiah. M., a lawyer in Crested Butte, Co., died Tuesday from injuries he received there from falling Rocks recently. He was born in Seneca Co., Oh., on 4 Aug 1834, came to Marengo, Iowa Co., Ia., in 1856 and to Davenport, Ia., in 1867. Surviving are his wife and a son in Davenport. His funeral will be in Davenport on Sunday and interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Davenport. - Friday 1 Sep 1882. May, Riegelman. Joe May of Rock Island, Ill., was married last Sunday evening to Miss Sadie Riegelman of Des Moines, Ia. The ceremony was performed according to the Hebrew rite. - Saturday 28 Jun 1879. McBurney, Campbell. Jas. McBurney and Julia Campbell were married Wednesday evening in Daven- port; they will live in Moline. -Friday 11 Aug 1882. McCloskey, John, age 23, a railroad brakemen, died Saturday in Des Moines, Ia., from railroad injured. His parents live in Davenport and he was soon to be married to a Geneseo, Ill girl. -Friday 26 May 1882. McMann, According to a reporter form the Chicago Tribune, Will McMann, now living in West Liberty, Ia, was born 7 Mar 1782, 100 yrs ago in the town of Aniskillan, Couty Fermanagh, Province of Ulster, Ireland. In 1865, at the close of the Civil War. McMann came to America and to Atalissa, Ia., to learn about his son, Robert, who was in the Union Army. Robert settled in Moline after the war and still lives there. Wm. McMann's wife died and he has been living for some years with his eldest son, Andrew, south of West Liberty, Ia. He was Methodist. A brother, who had been in the British Army, died two days before the battle of Waterloo. -Friday 9 Jun 1882. McNabney, Eugene, died at the home of his mother in Hampton, Ill., last Tuesday, aged 21, and was buried in the Hampton Cemetery. Carl Meyer, formerly a cobbler in Moline, Ill., died in New York on Friday. He lived in Davenport for a time. His wife went to Germany a short time ago, where she died. The three children he had by his first wife are: Peter, Mrs. John Tuffley of Moline and Mrs. Peter S. Skogh of Burlington, Ia. She was born in Mt. Vernon, In., and came to this county 34 yrs ago at the age of 4. She was an orphan and was adopted by Phil Williams. She and L. B. Piper Jr. were married in 1861. They had four children, of whom the eldest died some years ago. The others are aged 14, 11 and 8. F., a musician, aged 46, died near Davenport, Ia., leaving his wife and 7 children, two of age, the others under 12. -Friday 10 Feb 1882. Schmidt, Hugo, of Davenport, Ia., died on Tuesday. He was born in Prussia in 1839 and came to this country in 1856. He was a surveyor in Minnesota for two yes., and then came to Davenport. He was admitted to the bar but became the first teller and assistant at the First National Bank until 1870 when he joined the Citizens National Bank. Moore, editor of the Review, wrote from Vail, Crawford Co., Ia., on the 11th that his son, Dic Reid, had died of diphtheria on Oct 30, his daughter, Rolla on Nov 5, and his daughter, Nellie, today. Gould in Rock Island. -Friday 8 July 1881. Townsend. From the Glenwood, Iowa Journal of November 29th: Col. W. f. Townsend died at Lincoln, Nebraska on last Sunday evening of typhoid-pneumonia.
