Box 7735, Des Moines, Iowa 50322 Deaths In Iowa Reported in the Macomb Journal, McDonough County, Illinois, 1880- 1888 BABCOCK, Amos, formerly of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, died at Cedar Rapids, Iowa recently. The remains of his child, formerly buried in Canton, were exhumed and reburied at Cedar Rapids. –28 Jun 1888 BLACK. The mother of Mr. E. H. Black of Macomb, Illinois died at Masillion, Iowa on Monday, aged 71 years. —17 Dec 1885 BROWNING, Judge M. D., brother of the late O. H. Browning, died at Burlington, Iowa on the 6th. –17 Nov 1881 CAMPBELL, Thomas, for many years a resident of Prairie City, Illinois, died at Villisca, Iowa, aged 68 years. –23 Jun 1887 CLARK, Abraham died six miles northwest of West Point, Iowa recently. He was the son of a widow lady in the neighborhood and was aged 21 years. —21 Jun 1888 COLE, Miss Mary J., died en-route from Shenandoah, Iowa to Keokuk, Iowa last Tuesday, aged about 30 years. —19 Aug 1886 CRISSINGER. The father of John Crissinger of Macomb, Illinois died near Mt. Pleasant, Iowa recently. He was buried Saturday. –3 Feb 1881 DOWER. A son of Wm. Dower of Keokuk, Iowa drowned near that city two or three days ago, aged six years. –21 Jul 1881 DUNCAN, Viola, a man living at Sciota, Illinois, died at Burlington, Iowa recently. He leaves a wife at Sciota. –13 Jan 1881 EPPERSON, Capt. S. A., died near Hawthorne, Iowa last Saturday and was buried Monday at Red Oak, (Bushnell, Illinois item). –16 Feb 1882 FALL, Daniel, died in Page County, Iowa, aged about 25 years. Burial was Thursday in Good Hope, Illinois. He is survived by his parents, three brothers and three sisters in Good Hope. –8 Jun 1882 HAMILTON, D. R., died at Linn Grove, Iowa on 16 Sep 1885 aged 74 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was born in Rockbridge, Virginia on 11 Apr 1811. When he was 17 years old he moved with his parents to Union County, Indiana where he stayed for two years, after which he returned to his native place in Virginia, staying there for five years during which time he was superintendent of the national turnpike in that state. He came to McDonough County in 1834 where he married Miss Missouri C. Dameron in 1836. She was a sister of Mrs. James Campbell, formerly Mrs. Robinson of this place and survives him. They had six children, one dying in infancy, three since maturity. Those deceased are: Mrs. J. N. Lowman, buried in Bushnell, Illinois; James L. at Belle Plaine, Kansas; Anna, wife of the Rev. W. W. Porter of Linn Grove, Iowa. Mrs. Hamilton lived in McDonough and Warren Counties, Illinois for 46 years, in Walnut Grove and Prairie City Townships. He moved to Linn Gove in 1880. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hamilton will live with her son George A. at Denver, Colorado. The other surviving child is Mrs. Susan M. Sterling, Kansas City, Mo.—24 Sep 1885 HAMILTON, Mrs. Malinda, wife of Levi Hamilton, died at the residence of their son, Uriah, in Shenandoah, Iowa on 21 Jan 1881. She was born Miss Creel at Columbia, Kentucky on 9 Dec 1809 and was married to Levi Hamilton on 25 Oct 1825. They left their native state in October, 1833, and settled in Walnut Grove, McDonough County, Illinois where they resided for a great many years. About two years ago, they went with their son, Uriah, to Shenandoah, Iowa. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. –3 Feb 1881 HAYS, Mattie, wife of Chas. C. Hays, died at Blanchard, Iowa on 13 May 1881 aged 41 years. She was born Mattie Laughry in Blairsville, Pa. on 30 Nov 1840. She came to Prairie City in 1856 with her sister, now Mrs. Stearns. She married C. C. Hays on Pennsylvania in 1865. He had just returned from the war. Her husband and children, Thaddeus 15, Sidney 13, and Frankie 4 survive. –
