Vinton Eagle, Oct 26, 1911
  John Kroulik, an inmate at the county home for the past fifteen years, 
committed suicide by hanging, early Wednesday morning.  No warning was given 
of his intention for such a deed, and it was wholly unknown until his lifeless 
body was found by Steward Smith.  He hanged himself by using one of the ropes 
that had been in use by W. A. Downs and his crew on their derrick, which had 
been in the repairing of the pumping plant at the home.  Mr. Kroulik was 
eighty years of age and his home was in Vining.
