Sickels son of Ellen Leaman and John Sickels was born at Fort Wayne, Ind., July 17th, 1867. In his early childhood he moved with his parents to Cass County where he resided for a time. Moving from there to Fayetteville, Ark. He was married to Hulda Jane Chandler February 1889. They moved from Fayetteville, Ark., to Iowa living in Cass and Adams County most of his life. Mr. Sickels passed away at the home of his son Francis Sickels May 2nd, 1951 at 10:45. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Hulda Jane, one brother Isacc of Fourmile, Ore., his 12 children. Jeff T., of Greenfield, Ia.; Charlie I. of Kellerton, Ia.; Theodore E. of Cromwell, Ia.; Arthur K., Will G., Francis Lee all of Corning, Ia.; Ellen Kirkpatrick, Dallas, Tex.; Lydia Sisk, Council Bluffs, Ia.; Eunice Sanders, Minneapolis, Minn.; Martha Walker, St. Charles, Ia.; Bertha David, Corning, Ia.; Ethel Granfield, (who preceded him in death); 32 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, and many other friends. Mr. Sickels was a member of the Christian Church uniting in early childhood. Funeral services were held in the Corning Methodist Church, Sunday, May 5, 1951, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Bressler, conducted services, assisted by Rev. R.T. White, music rendered by Mrs. Stanley Evans and Mrs. Warren Evans, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Dale Kimpson. Pallbearers were relatives. Interment was in the Cromwell Cemetery.
