Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2001, 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with Father David Duprey and The Reverend Ray Clark officiating. Her last wishes were to be cremated and buried next to her late husband, Bob McConaughy, in the Elks Cemetery in Sheridan. There will be a luncheon at 1:00 PM at the Story Woman’s Club in Story, Wyoming. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Grace was born on November 19, 1908, in Iowa to Harry and Maud Campbell. Sheridan, Wyoming became the family home when grace was two years old. She graduated from Sheridan High School when only 16 years old, and married her husband Vivian Cooper at the age of 17. Grace and Vivian were the proud parents of Jimmie Cooper, who went on to be a successful pianist. Grace spent the majority of her working years at Ernst’s Saddle Shop in Sheridan. There she created hundreds of well-known leather outfits, worn by Miss Cheyenne Frontier Rodeo Queens; Sheridan WYO Rodeo Queens; parade contestants and famous actors such as Robert Taylor. In 1950, Grace married Bob McConaughy and moved to Rosebud Lane in Story, Wyoming. There she lived out her dreams until she departed this life. Grace spent most of her time with the family and friends that she loved. She bowled in bowling leagues, was an avid golfer, loved to camp and pack up in the mountains, and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Story Woman’s Club. She loved to sew and quilt, she attended many weekly card parties, had a passion for world travel and spent the rest of her waking hours reading novels and working crossword puzzles. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Bob McConaughy (1975); her son, Jimmie Cooper (1988); her grandson Gregory Cooper (1963); her three sisters, Helen, Mildred and Frances Campbell, and her younger brother Jim Willard. Survivors include granddaughters, Christy Burnett of Erie, Colorado, and Stephanie Cooper of Monument, Colorado. Grace has one great-grandson, Scottie Burnett. She was also blessed with dozens of nieces and nephews, including Nanette Carlson and Dave and Sher Oakes of Sheridan. Memorials in memory of Grace may be made to the Story Woman’s Club, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O.
