Simpson 1904 - 2001 Vera M. Simpson, age 96 of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, July 2, 2001, in Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan. She was born December 12, 1904, in Corydon, Iowa, to Elmer & Estella (Teater) Allison. Vera grew up and attended schools in Iowa. As a young woman, she moved to Montana where she worked on a dude ranch. Vera married Richard Taylor Cox on April 25, 1925, in Birney, MT. They ranched in Montana. In 1934, she married O.O. “Pete” Simpson. They worked on many ranches in Montana until moving to Sheridan in 1940. Vera worked in the Old Sheridan Hospital and later at the V.A. Medical Center in food service until she retired. Mr. Simpson died in 1949. She was an excellent cook and endeared herself to her daughter’s friends who lovingly called her “Simpy” as she chaperoned 4-H, FHA and school groups. Vera moved to Story, WY, in 1963, where she did domestic work and was a loving babysitter for many children in the Story area. She loved to garden and raise flowers as well as crochet and quilt. In 1991, she moved to Buffalo, WY, to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Eagles Auxiliary and attended the Wesleyan Church in Buffalo. Vera was preceded in death by four sisters, Florence, Wilma, Edna and Gladys. Vera is survived by her daughter Beverly Kimble & her husband David of Buffalo, WY; three grandchildren Kay Bost & her husband Archie with their children Matthew & Alisa of Raleigh, NC, Karen Rafferty & her husband Butch with their children Danielle, Nicole & Sean of Vista, CA, Kevin Kimble & his wife Rhonda with their son Caleb of Colorado Springs, CO; sister Cleo Farley of Seattle, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 8:30am until 1:00pm on Monday (July 9th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home followed by graveside service at 2:00pm in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Mike Carlton officiating.
