His name is Everett. --Mrs. Susie HUNT who is at Kewanee, Ill visiting her children, Hazel, Gertrude and Harry, is expected home soon. (elsewhere in this issue: Mrs. Ed. HUNT has returned from a visit At Kewanee, Ill.) --John ETHEL and wife of Bloomfield were Thanksgiving guests at the home of his niece, Mrs.. O. A. BARNHARD. Mr. ETHEL is postmaster of Bloomfield and is a splendid citizen. --Dr. Roy PEARSON and family, who had been visiting relatives and friends here for several days returned to their home in Muscatine last Sunday morning. Their son "Bobbie" made quite a number of new acquaintences while here, the courtesy of his grand-day Henry FRITZ. --Miss Ethel HORN, a former charming teacher in our public school, was married recently to a Mr. CLOVER at Lhorville, this state. Mr. CLOVER is a postmaster of his home town. --Max Eugene, baby son of Mr. Bernard KOSMAN passed away at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Ludie McFARLING at Drakesville Sunday morning from Tuberculosis of the brain. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church in Drakesville Monday afternoon and burial made in the Drakesville cemetery.--Bloomfield Messenger. NORTH OF TOWN --Leo JOHNSON of Quincy, Iowa, is visiting at the parental Bert JOHNSON home. --Gust BURGASON and wife called at the parental PETERSON home Sunday afternoon. CHRISTIANBURG --Born last week to Walter WOODS and wife, a nine pound girl. URBANA --Mrs. Fern HUNT and children came up from Ottumwa Wednesday for a few days visit with her sister Mrs. Wilson SELLERS. --Chas. DeLONG and family spent Thanksgiving Day at the parental COLLINS home in Albia. ENON --Gene CLOYED and wife are rejoicing over the arrival of a daughter Dec 29. She has been named Laurine Virgina. (This is as written in the Dec 3rd issue.) ASH GROVE --Miss Hazel CASSILL and Mr. John JONES were united in marriage Thanksgiving day, Rev. CORN officiating. They will make their home in Ottumwa. EAST OF TOWN --Homer HENDERSON and family at Thanksgiving dinner at the parental Lee CLOYED home. Thurs Dec 10, 1925 --John JOHNSON and wife, parents of Herman JOHNSON, have sold their farm southwest of Blakesburg and will move into town soon... --Grandma SETH, mother of Mrs. Lafe KINDER, passed away at the home of her daughter last Friday night. She had been sick for along time... --The many acquaintances of the DERBY’s will regret to learn that Mrs. Wes DERBY passed away at her home in Peabody, Kansas recently....she was buried in the Peabody Cemetery. --Lafe CHRISTY, wife and son of Bloomfield spent Thursday at the Josie DeLONG home. --Mrs. Fred SHIELDS and daughter Olive of Torrington, Wyo, spent the week end at Josei DeLONG’s --Rex No. 5, near Albia was the scene of a murder Saturday morning in which James MATTHEWS lost his life and Mrs. Viola WILLIAMS is an inmate of the Albia jail. MATTHEWS accused his wife of taking a dollar which belonged to him and attempted to prove the assertion by the WILLIAMS woman who when called a liar became so enraged that she fired a shot which put an end to his existence. The shooting followed a wild party of the previous night. --Louis BRUEY a fifty-year old farmer who resides near Fairfield, shot and killed Samuel McNESS a neighbor, last Saturday morning. BRUEY accused McNESS of betraying his 14 year old motherless daughter. He called the young man to his home asked him if he was sorry and then fired the fatal shot that severed his juglar vein. BRUEY then telephoned the sheriff and undertakes (sic) who had considerable difficulty in reaching the place in the terrible storm Saturday. The preliminary hearing will be held Thursday. WHAT NOTS --A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Archie GOODE on Saturday, December 5th. Archie has started to teach the young man that boys who go out every evening isn’t much more desirable than the same kind of a stove. Anyway, he’s a real kid and if he doesn’t grow to be a useful man it will not be the fault of his parents. (This is as written) --A few days ago Nelse MATSON, who has operated a small cigar and news stand at Missouri Valley, died after a stroke of appoplexy. He was thought to have been in very moderate circumstances but when Wm.
