Mrs. WADDELL was formerly Miss Anna KRAFKA. --Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur RILEY of Indianapolis, Indiana, are spending this week at the parentla Ernest THOMPSON home. --The annual reunion of the WALKER family will be held at Wilswood park Sunday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. --Mr. and Mrs. R. A. POWERS and family of Hollywood, Calif. are visiting this week with her sister, Mrs. Charles McHENDRY and family. --Miss Mildred De LA of Chicago, Mrs. Jessie GIDHAM of Perry, C. E. NEFF, wife and daughter of Des Moines and Bert NEFF and wife of Albia spent Sunday at the Frank NEFF home. --Rev. C. A. CURRY of Ollie has been called as pastor of the Baptist church, beginning next mongh. Rev. CURRY will live in Blakesburg and will serve the people of Highland Center half time. --Henry MILLARD and daughters, Helen and Rebecca of Loveland, Colo., are visiting relatives here. Mr. MILLARD has been a resident of Colorado for forty years and this is his first visit to his old stamping ground in this vicinity in twenty-two years. --A message was received here the first of the week conveying the sad intelligence that Miss Tomasa WAHL of Newell, S. D., had met death in an automobile accident. Miss WAHL was fourteen years of age and was a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John DAY of Russell Chapel. The body was brought to Des Moines for burial. -- RE-UNIONS --Saturday, August 15th, the annual NEFF reunion was held at the L. A. NEFF home east of Albia. A table was spread which held the family contributions of sumptuous viands. The afternoon was spent in a social way, a short program consisting of music by Miss Mildred De LA of Chicago and readings by Miss Alice NEFF. Those present were C. E. NEFF and family of Des Moines, F. W. NEFF and family, Mrs. L. A. NEFF of Albia, J. C. NEFF and family of Moravia, Mrs. C. A. BAILEY and sons of Centerville, W. W. HARTER and family of Centerville, Ben WELLS and family of Plano, Junior and Robert NEFF of Des Moines, Orville BURTON and family of Moravia, Lula BURTON of Moravia, Edward FORSTER and family and Mrs CALDWELL were visitors. Jessie OLDHAM of Perry and Mildred De LA of Chicago were the honored guests of the occasion. A pleasant day was enjoyed by all and the goodbyes were said until next year, when the reunion will be held at the home of C. E. NEFF in Des Moines. --The THOMPSON descendants to the number of seventy assembled at Wildwood park in Ottumwa August 16th for a picnic and to review the past and present in honor of Mrs. Bertha THOMPSON MALLICK of Danbury, Neb., who with her husband and children are visiting here. Others from a distance were Glen SENSENY and wife of Chicago and Wilbur RILEY and wife of Indianapolis. A real feed was enjoyed at the noon hour and the renewing of old friendships filled in a most enjoyable afternoon. --The HUDGENS family reunion was held at Unionville last Sunday. Those from here who attended were Thos. HUDGENS, wife and daughter, James JONES, wife and daughter, Joe SCHOECH and family, Roe AHEE and wife and L. B. SAUM and daughter Goldia. --There was a MILLER family re-union south of Blakesburg last Sunday, at which a great many MILLERS were present. A fine time was enjoyed and an abundance of good things to eat at the noon hour. --Saturday, August 15, on the Russell Chapel church grounds a number of the DAY families and friends gathered for the purpose of a re-union in honor of Rev. Paul WRIGHT and family of Los Angeles, Cali. (sic) Mrs. WRIGHT was born near Russell Chapel and had spent many happy days on the old church lawn. At the noon hour the old weather beaten tables were brought out and loaded down with every delicacy of the season that the Russell Chapel ladies know how to prepare so well. There was fried chicken galore and everyone did justice to it. The afternoon was spent in a social way. Miss Elizabeth WRIGHT being a very talented musician gave several piano and violin numbers and her sister, Lois gave a reading entitled "Crooked Mouths" that was quite amusing. The closing feature was an Irish Folk dance by little Phillys and baby Ann SHORE. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul WRIGHT and children of California, Mr. and Mrs. Frank WELLMAN and Julia BALDWIN and daughter of Eldon, Mrs. Phil SHORE and daughter of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Byron GASSER, Miss Alice RUSH and Mrs. Harley STEVENSON and daughter of Ottumwa, Mr. and Mrs. Otis DAY of Pleasant Home, Mr. and Mrs. Ab TOWNSEND, Mr and Mrs. Bert WILKINSON and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. John DAY, Mr. GREEN of Amador, and Mrs. Laura MILLER and Mrs. Ida HARLAN of Blakesburg. At a late hour in the afternoon all departed for their homes wishing each other many returns of the day. --NOTICE BARNES RE-UNION: The annual BARNES re-union will be held Sunday, August 30, at Wildwood park in Ottumwa. Each family requested to bring plate, knife, fork saucer and glass for each member of the family. Don’t wait for an invitation, if you are eligible come right along with your basket and enjoy the best day of your life. Mrs. Curg McCoy, Sec’y --Rev. Curtis WIBERG, who has served the Munterville church as a student the past twenty months, has returned as permanent pastor. June 14th he was ordained in the Augustana Lutheran Synod at Minneapolis. June 24th the new pastor was married to Marie JOHNSON of Marinette, Wisconsin, and they have just finished a 5,000 mile auto trip through Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. Rev. WILBERG’s program for his church is for two full services on Sunday, a mid-week Bible and prayer meeting, and meetings of the various organizations within the church. The Munterville Church was originally called the Bergholm Lutheran church founded by the Swedes in 1856. CHURCH NEWS--MUNTERVILLE --Sunday was a memorial day in the history of your church. Four infants were presented to the Lord in holy baptism. The names together with that of their parents are: Doris Josephine, daughter of A. W. ANDERSON and wife; Estella Marie, daughter of E. S. HAWS and wife; Mary Ellen, daughter of Fritz LAGERSTROM and wife: Geraldine Faye, daughter of A. N. LARSON and wife. Thurs Aug 27, 1925 WHAT NOTS --Born to Mr. and Mrs. John ADAM Jr., a daughter, Wednesday August 19 --Paul CHISMAN and family attended a family re-union of the CHISMAN, JOHNSON and WILSON families held at Bloomfield last Sunday. A big crowd was present and Paul got filled up for once in a life time. --Starkey McCOY and wife visited at the J. G. THAYER home Monday before leaving for the western coast where they intend to reside. --C. W. HUNTER, wife and baby daughter Jo Ann, came down from Des Moines and spent serveral days visiting relatives, returning home Tuesday. --John DAY and wife attended the funeral of their granddaughter Thomasa WAHL in Des Moines Friday. Miss WAHL met death in an automobile accident near her home at Newell, S. D. last week. Mrs. Harley STEVENSON of Ottumwa was also in attendance at the funeral service. --Rev. Chas. ELLIS and family have returned home from a trip to points in the northern part of the state. While away they visited Mrs. ELLIS’ sister, Mrs. Lewis GILMORE at Red Oak, and from there they went to Hampton where they visited with a cousin, Mrs. CANFIELD and after a short visit there they went to Des Moines where they spent a short time, returning home Friday afternoon. --Mrs. Lyman COHAGAN, residing east of Blakesburg, was trading here and visiting friends and relatives Tuesday. Mrs. COHAGAN had not been in Blakesburg during the past seven years and she noted the many changes with much interest. She is what we would term a pioneer school teacher, having spent much time in educational work and is a very interesting lady to converse with. Mrs. COHAGAN says that her husband, Lyman COHAGAN and our own Hiram SAPP were school mates in their youthful days and also that Mayor HUNTER was an exceptionally good little boy, but J. W. COHAGAN was contrary and unruly as you find them and he hasn’t changed a bit since he got his growth. --There was a big birthday dinner out at Jim WEST’s Sunday; a double header, his son’s birthday being the same as his. The kin folks from both sides of the house were there. Such a feed as was enjoyed at dinner time. It was hard to tell which was the kid or which was Jim so young and happy was he on this occasion. At noon a picnic dinner, such as the WALKER women know the art of preparing, was served, after which the following program was rendered: Song, "The Church in the Wildwood." Talk, Orval WALKER.; Reading, Laura EATON; Talk, Emma WALKER; Song, Velma May GLOSSER; Talk, Rev. Levi EATON; Talk, J. M. WALKER, violin solo, Wilbur BLACK. They then proceeded to organize with Mrs. Emma WALKER acting as chairwoman , resulting in the election of A. J. WALKER, president; Emma WALKER, secretary and a ways and means committee consisting of J. W. JOHNSTON, Orval WALKER and Mrs. Millie WORRELL. The remainder of the day was spent in a social way, until late in the afternoon when they adjourned to meet next year at the Emmett WALKER home. The following are those who registered: J. M.
