A woman pioneer in the medical world, devoting her attention to children. Three years ago she came to California to spend the remaining years of her life and died May 5, 1927. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the M. E. church. Beautiful and impressive services for Dr. GHRIST were held in the Little Church of the Flowers, located in Glendale, Cal., The high appreciation and great love of her many friends were exemplified by the wealth of flowers banked around and over the casket, and by the presence of so many people who filled the church to capacity. The deceased was a cousin of Ira GLOVER of Blakesburg. Eli Grant SWAIM, son of Herod Blake and Emily Jane SWAIM was born August 9, 1863, near Unionville, Iowa. He grew to manhood near the place of his birth. On the 23rd day of December, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Lucretia STUFFLEBEAM. Mr. SWAIM was familiarly and favorably known, and the unusually large crowd which met to pay respect to his memory and the profusion of flowers gave silent expression of esteem. The body was laid to rest in the Taylor cemetery.
