She was married to Dimmitt W. BAKER November 5, 1884. To this union were born five children, three sons, Roy who died in infancy, Claude T. of Chicago, Ill., Ralph of Ottumwa, and two daughters, Mrs. Winnie SWANSON of Chillicothe, Iowa and Mrs. Marie McMULLEN of Waukee, Iowa. After their marriage she and her husband moved on the farm three miles north of Christianburg where she make her home until the time of her death. She was a true helpmeet, ever toiling uncomplainingly by the side of her husband in the strenuous task of building and maintaining their home. She was converted to the Christian faith at the White Oak church in 1894 and united with the M. E. church at that place. Her’s was a beautiful christian life. While it was a busy life, yet she was never too busy to lend a helping hand to those in need, never sparing herself but always thinking of others. She was loved by all who knew her. The richest treasures of her love she gave to her husband and children which was returned by them in their love and devotion to her. She suffered intensely but bore it all with patience and during her long illness when pain racked her body she never complained but seemed to try to make it as easy for those who cared for her as she could. All that medical skill and loving care could do was done, but no earthly help could bring relief. Only Christ the “Great Physician” whom she loved and trusted could soothe away the pain and guide the tired soul into it’s (sic) haven of rest. A beautiful life has gone out of the home and community leaving behind the greatest wealth the earth holds, the influence of a godly life filled with kindly deeds. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and four children; two brothers, Jerrie HOOVER of Mt. Park, Oklahoma, and Sylvester HOOVER of Drakeville, Iowa, three sisters, Mrs. Stella ZEIGLER of Pasadena, California, Mrs. Lute RICE of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Rosie BURKHART of Mt. Park, Oklahoma, three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Christianburg church Thursday morning at 11 a.m., February 26, 1925, conducted by Rev. Chas. L. ELLIS. The remains were buried in the Chisman cemetery.
