Mrs. Nellie Dawson Sigourney - Mrs. Nellie Dawson, 85, died about midnight Friday at the Bales guest home, where she had been since September. She formerly lived at the Mrs. Albert Blaise Home for a number of years. She was born May 24, 1870, near Lancaster, a daughter of John and Malinda Utterback Vittetoe. Her early life was spent in that community. She was married to Alex T. Dawson of Hayesville. They lived many years on a farm two miles west of Hayesville and later at North English, Sigourney and What Cheer. Mr. Dawson died in What Cheer in 1944. Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Christian church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Stella Raben of Bladensburg, Mrs. Jennie Pollock of Fairfield, Mrs. Paul Sarbaugh of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Harry Eastburn of Arizona and Mrs. Clyde Henson of North English; and three sons, Oscar Dawson of Hayesville, Clyde and John Dawson of California. She also leaves two brothers, Richard Vittetoe of Sigourney and Gilbert Vittetoe of Ft. Collins, Colo., and four sisters, Mrs. Frances Trafford of Denver, Mrs. Etta Beman of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Rose Bensmiller of Alhambra, Calif., and Mrs. Ed Blanford of Casper, Wyo. Ther are 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A daughter Pearl and four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Reynolds funeral home. The Rev. John Ballensky of Fairfield will be in charge. Burial will be in Pennington cemetery. Mrs. Ed Showalter Sigourney - Mrs. Ed Showalter, 69, died at her farm home near Kinross at 1 p.m. Friday. She was the former Alvina Luers, born March 4, 1886, the daughter of Herman and Alvina Beinke Luers, eight miles southeast of Sigourney. She was married to Ed Showalter April 27, 1921, and their home was in the Kinross community. They had no children. Survivors include four brothers, Henry and William Luers of Sigourney; Herman of Keota, and richard of Santa Ana, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Anna Schrader of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Luers, two sisters, Miss Louise Luers and Mrs. Margaret Bakehouse and several brothers and sisters in infancy. The body is at the Powell funeral home in Wellman. Plans for services have not been completed. Ballew Services Bloomfield - Funeral services for Ernie Ballew, who died Friday morning in the Davis county hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wagler funeral home. the Rev. Hugh Sawyer of Centerville and the Rev. Harold Garroutte, pastor of the Bloomfield Baptist church, will be in charge. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery near Bloomfield.
