Baldwell was born at Libertyville, Iowa, Nov. 18, 1851, and died December 30, 1924, aged 73 years, one month and twelve days. His sudden death which occurred while on his way home from Blakesburg was a great shock, not only to his devoted wife, but to the whole community. He was married to Miss Rebecca Jane McFee Feb. 11, 1873. to this union was born a daughter, Nettie, who died in 1883, at the age of seven years. Mr. Baldwell’s father died when he was five years of age. After the death of his father he made his home with William R. Fisk until he was 21 years of age. He united with the M.E. church at Christianburg in October, 1902 and was a member at his death. He was a devoted husband, a splendid neighbor and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his departure, two half brothers: Sherman England of Bloomfield, Grant England of Akron Col. , and one foster brother Frank Fisk and a foster sister, Mrs. Mahala Gibson, both of Centerville, Iowa, a nephew, Wm. Baldwell of Portland, Oregon, and a host of friends. Funeral service was held at Christianburg Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Chas. L. Ellis. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery east of Christianburg.
