His parents came to Iowa when he was a small boy and located on a farm near Blakesburg where he grew to manhood. August 28, 1865 he was united in marriage to Druzilla Scott and to this union nine children were born, Marion, Sam and Bertha Mrs. Rebecca Jane Tharp of Drakeville and Mrs. Naomi Robinson of Moulton. Four children having preceeded him in death. When a young man he gave his heart to God and was baptised and united with the Baptist church, later he transferred his membership to the United Brethren church and remained a faithful member. Mr. Stocker passed peacefully away at his home eight miles southwest of Blakesburg, January 8, 1925 at the mature age of 84 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was a devoted man to his family an accommodating neighbor and highly respected citisen (sic) The deceased volunteered with Company B 13th Iowa August 1862 and was mustered out in June 1865 after three years service. He is survived by his aged companion, five children, grandchildren, many other relatives and a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. Par Donahoo. Interment in the Sales Cemetery.
