"Uncle Hi" had been enjoying his usual good health when he retired for the night and when called to get up for breakfast, it was discovered he had been dead for several hours, according to his physician. Heart failure is given as the cause of his death. "Uncle Hi" had taken a keen interest in the election and it is thought the excitement was too much for him and when he retired Wednesday night re-action came and he slept away. He was a familiar figure in Blakesburg and was probably as well known as any man in town. For years he and his family resided on a farm south of Blakesburg, but sold his farm and moved here shortly after the world war closed. He lost two sons in the war and he and his wife have been receiving a pension from the government for several years, which enabled them to live without work and accumulate a competency. Hiram SAPP was born in Davis county, Iowa, November 11, 1844, and had he lived until today he would have been 79 years old. He was married about fifty years ago and is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters, four children having preceeding (sic) him in death. Funeral service was held at the family home by Rev. LUDWIG Saturday afternoon and the body was taken to Wesley Chapel cemetery for burial. He was buried in a casket he selected while he lived and was put away as nicely as anyone would hope to be. Friends extend sympathy to the family in their hour of sorrow.
