                            OBITUARY
                            
Mary Ellen SCOTT, daughter of Dallas and Eliza SCOTT, was born in Monroe county, 
Iowa, December 9, 1869, and departed this life October 10, 1925, age 55 years, ten 
months and one day.  She was united in marriage to Lewis GILES January 1, 1891, and to 
this union were born four children:  Ivan L., who died in early childhood, Muriel V. of 
Blakesburg, Fern G. and Gwen R. both of Ottumwa, Iowa.  Several years ago she united 
with the Christian Church of Urbana Center and will be remembered by those who knew 
her a faithful Christian woman, and a kind and loving neighbor.  As a mother, there was 
none better, and she will be greatly missed by her sorrowing children.  Besides her two 
small grand children, she leaves to morn her death three sisters:  Mrs. Ottis HARROW, 
Mrs. John LaBELLE and Mrs. Chas. TOOLE of Ottumwa and a host of other relatives 
and friends.  Services at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. M. HUNT, 2849 W. Second 
St., were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. Luther CHILDS of the Finley 
Avenue Baptist church and the remains were laid to rest in the Shaul cemetery.
