Jan 14, 1926 Obituary Daniel T. DOWD, 2317 Twenty Eighth street, bailiff in Judge C. C. HAMILTON’s court, dropped dead in the bailiff’s room at the courthouse at 10 o’clock Friday morning while talking to Archie O. JEPSON, Sioux City attorney. Death is believed to have been due to heart failure following a light attack of Influenza with which he had been suffering for the last 10 days. Mr. DOWD was born at Fairfield, Ia., April 17, 1870, and came to Sioux City 25 years ago. He was employed 12 years by the Sioux City Service company, worked 12 years as a clerk and carrier at the Sioux City postoffice and was appointed bailiff April 1, 1925. He was an active member of Landmark lodge, No. 103, and was prominent in Masonic circles. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eva DOWD; four children, Lois, Dorothy, Thomas and Elsie, all of Sioux City; four brothers, Jesse DOUD (sic) of Sioux City, James DOWD of Bradentown, Fla.; A. C. DOWD of Moravia, Ia., and Ben DOWD of Long Beach, Cal., and one sister, Mrs. Henry KILTY of Onaco, Fla.--Sioux City Tribune.
