This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 36 Clement A. Bowers Crawfordsville, Iowa Clement A. Bowers of Crawfordsville, was born in Kearney County, Nebr., on November 8, 1891. He is the son of Howard M. Bowers and Roxana McGavach. He is a graduate of the Crawfordsville High School and Gem City Business College. Army Record Second Lieutenant Bowers entered the service May 24, 1917, at Omaha, in the 4th Nebraska Infantry which became the 127th Field Artillery, Camp Cody, N. M. He was transferred to Artillery Replacement Troops and entered the Field Artillery Central Officers' Training Camp, Camp Taylor, Ky. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant of Artillery and assigned to the 69th Field Artillery, Firing Center, West Point, Ky. He was discharged December 22, 1918 from Camp Knox, Ky.
