Chambers Ainsworth, Iowa Merle D. Chambers of Ainsworth, was born at Ainsworth, Iowa, on May 24, 1898. He is the son of James A. Chambers and Mary Ingham. Army Record Private First Class Chambers entered the service May 2, 1917, as a member of Company K, First Iowa Infantry, and was then transferred to Company K, 168th Infantry, 42nd Division, which trained at Camp Mills, L. I. He landed overseas in December 1917, and was engaged in battles on the Lorraine Front, Champagne, Chateau-Thierry, St. Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne. He also was in the Army of Occupation. He was discharged May 17, 1919.
