This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 10 Paul M. Dunlap Kalona, Iowa Paul M. Dunlap of Kalona, was born at Kalona, Iowa, October 25, 1897. He was the son of Oliver H. Dunlap and Emma Allen. He was a graduate of Kalona High School. Army Record In May, 1918, Paul Dunlap with fifty-six other men from the State University of Colorado, were chosen to go (to) the Presidio, of San Francisco, California, for special military training. He received his commission as second lieutenant in Infantry September 16, 1918, and reported for duty at the State College of New Mexico to assist in training the men at that school. He was taken ill with the influenza and sent to the base hospital at Fort Bliss, Texas, October 7. He died on October 18, 1918.
