This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 22 Stephen M. Hawkins Ainsworth, Iowa Stephen M. Hawkins of Ainsworth, was born at Ainsworth, Iowa, on October 5, 1896. He is the son of Merritt F. Hawkins and Elizabeth Bell. Army Record Private Hawkins entered the service September 4, 1918, and was sent to Camp Dodge where he was in the Infantry. He was transferred to Quartermaster Salvage Co. He was discharged May 8, 1919.
