This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 8 Howard C. Keiper Ainsworth, Iowa Howard C. Keiper of Ainsworth, was born at Ainsworth, Iowa, on April 4, 1896. He was the son of William H. Keiper and Frances Crawford. Army Record Corporal Keiper entered the service April 30, 1917, in Co. K, First Iowa Infantry. He was transferred to Co. K, 168th Infantry, 42nd Division, at Camp Mills, N. Y. He landed overseas about December 1, 1917. He was transferred to Co. H, 164th Infantry and later transferred to Co. D, 315th Infantry, 79th Division. He was in the Meuse-Argonne drive. He died April 27, 1919, of pneumonia at Rimaucort, France.
