Kiefer Kalona, Iowa Anto H. Kiefer of Kalona, was born at Richmond, Iowa, on September 9, 1894. He is the son of Joseph W. Kiefer and Elizabeth Grothe. Army Record Private First Class Kiefer entered the service June 24, 1918, going to Camp Dodge where he was assigned to Co. F, 349th Infantry, 88th Division, which landed overseas August 17, 1918. He was in action on the Haute-Alsace Front. He was discharged June 11, 1919, from Camp Dodge.
