This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 12 Earnest W. Ledman Kalona, Iowa Earnest W. Ledman of Kalona was born at Wellman, Iowa, on August 4, 1896. He was the son of William E. Ledman and Nettie McIlrie. He was a graduate of Kalona High School and Muscatine Business College. Army Record Private Ledman entered the service on August 8, 1918, going to Camp McArthur, Texas, where he was assigned to the Infantry and placed in The September Infantry Automatic Replacement Draft. He landed overseas October 7, 1918, and died the next day of pneumonia which he contracted while on the boat.
