This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 36 Russell Wayne Lemley Brighton, Iowa Russell Wayne Lemley of Brighton, was born at Veo, Iowa, on May 6, 1897. He is the son of James A. Lemley and Carrie A. Engel. He is a graduate of Brighton High School and State University of Iowa. Army Record Second Lieutenant Lemley entered the service October 2, enlisting at Omaha, Nebr., in the Air service, and receiving training in the School of Military Aeronautics at Austin, Texas. He was stationed at Camp Dick, Dallas, Texas, at Payne Field, West Point, Mississippi, and at Love Field, Dallas, Texas, at which latter place he was commissioned and received his flying training. He was discharged January 6, 1919.
