This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 35 Vaughn M. Long Crawfordsville, Iowa Vaughn M. Long of Crawfordsville, was born at Crawfordsville, Iowa, on May 13, 1899. He is the son of William Robert Long and Reba L. Sherwood. He is a graduate of the Crawfordsville High School. Army Record Sergeant Long entered the service July 13, 1918, and received training at Fort Sheridan, Ill., at the Officers' Training Camp. He was transferred to Iowa Wesleyan university at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and entered the Student Army Training Corps, from where he was discharged December 15, 1918.
