This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 30 J. Austen Lord Ainsworth, Iowa J. Austen Lord of Ainsworth, was born at Marston, Illinois, on October 11, 1891. He is the son of James M. Lord and Mary L. Struble. Army Record Chaplain Lord, who held the military rank of First Lieutenant, entered the service at Camp Zachary Taylor, Louisville, Kentucky, on June 1, 1918, where he attended Chaplain's Training School. He landed overseas August 11, 1918 and was assigned as Chaplain to the Fourth Infantry, 3rd Division, and served with them thru the Battles of St. Mihiel, Mont- Faucon, and the Meuse-Argonne. In the battle of the Argonne he was wounded by the inhalation of both mustard and phosgene gasses, October 14, 1918. He was discharged from service February 5, 1919, at Camp Dix, New Jersey.
