This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 27 Robert Louis Masson Washington, Iowa Robert Louis Masson of Washington, was born at Washington, Iowa, on August 31, 1891. He is the son of Daniel J. Masson and Matilda M. Scofield. He is a graduate of Washington High School, 1908; B. A. State University of Iowa, 1912; M. A. State University of Iowa, 1915; attended Graduate School, Harvard University, 1916-1917. Army Record Captain Masson entered the Second Officers' Training Camp, at Fort Snelling, Minn., August 27, 1917. At the close of camp he was commissioned First Lieutenant, and was attached to the 36th Infantry, U. S. A., stationed at Fort Snelling, Minn. On August 10, 1918, he was transferred to Sweeney Automobile School at Kansas City, Mo., and about that time was promoted to a captaincy. He was given his discharge January 2, 1919.
