This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 21 Howard P. Miller Washington, Iowa Howard P. Miller of Washington, was born at Ainsworth, Iowa, on September 6, 1894. He is the son of David H. Miller and Emma J. Pearson. He is married and his wife's maiden name was Grace Humston. He is a graduate of Highland Park, Des Moines. Army Record Second Lieutenant Miller entered the service December 13, 1917, at Des Moines, taking his first training in the Medical Department at Camp Dodge. He became a member of the 4th Officers' Training School there and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on August 26, 1918, later being assigned to Headquarters Detachment, 12th Battalion, where he served until his discharge on January 10, 1919. During his entire service he was stationed at Camp Dodge.
