This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 16 Jacob Miller Kalona, Iowa Jacob Miller of Kalona, was born in Johnson county on October 2, 1888. He was the son of Jos. J. H. Miller and Amelia Gingerich. He was a graduate of Kalona High School and Goshen College. Army Record Private Miller entered the service April 29, 1918, at Camp Dodge. He was detailed as a hospital orderly and worked in the hospital for several months before he contracted the Spanish Influenza which resulted in his death on October 8, 1918. At the time he became ill he was the master of ward seven of the hospital where he was detailed.
