This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 21 Harry W. Palmgren Washington, Iowa Harry W. Palmgren of Washington, was born at Keokuk, Iowa, on September 10, 1892. He is the son of C. J. Palmgren and Anna Sandeen. He is a graduate of Washington High School. Army Record First Lieutenant Palmgren enlisted with the 1st Iowa Cavalry at Lone Tree, and served with that unit at Donna, Texas, during the Mexican disturbance. Later he entered Officers' Training School at Fort Snelling, and when he had completed his course there, was transferred to Camp Lewis, Washington, and assigned to the 348th Field Artillery, 91st Division. Another transfer took him to Camp Fremont, California, 302nd Cavalry, 8th Division, and later he was again transferred to the 64th Field Artillery, Camp Kearney, California. He also served as an instructor in the School of Fire at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, receiving his discharge at Camp Funston on February 5, 1919.
