This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 9 Felix E. Pauls Washington, Iowa Felix E. Pauls of Washington, was born in Humboldt County on June 7, 1897. He was the son of Herman A. Pauls and Gertrude Shannon. He was married and his wife's maiden name was Cecil F. Spellman. He was a graduate if Washington High School. Army Record Private Pauls entered the service in October, 1918, going to the S. A. T. C. at Iowa City. He became ill with the influenza which later developed into pneumonia, causing his death October 17, 1918.
