This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 24 Harold M. Putnam Washington, Iowa Harold M. Putnam of Washington, was born at Milan, Michigan, on September 7, 1889. He is the son of Alfre E. Putnam and Alics S. McNeill. He is a graduate of Milan, Michigan, High School. Army Record First Lieutenant Putnam entered the service in 1913 with Co. D, 54th Iowa Infantry. He served on the Mexican border in 1916. At the outbreak of the world war he went to Camp Cody, N. M., where he was transferred to Co. K, 133rd Infantry 34th Division. He landed overseas October 25, 1918 and was assigned to Co. I, 59th Infantry, 4th Division. With this unit he was stationed in Germany, with the Army of Occupation. He was discharged June 3, 1919, from Camp Lee, Va.
