This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 34 Clarence I. Richards Ainsworth, Iowa Clarence I. Richards of Ainsworth, was born at Woodhull, Ill., on April 15, 1885. He is the son of Edward J. Richards and Mary L. Clay. Army Record Sergeant Richards entered the service February 28, 1918, at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., in the Air Service. He was first sent to Kelly Field and then to Souther Field, Americus, Georgia, where he was assigned to the 501st Aero Squadron and then to the 237th Aero Squadron. He was discharged March 21, 1919, from Souther Field.
