This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 30 I. Reed Salladay Ainsworth, Iowa I. Reed Salladay of Ainsworth, was born in Washington County, Iowa, on November 13, 1894. He is the son of Frank J. Salladay and Mattie Stewart. He is a graduate of Washington High School. Army Record Second Lieutenant Salladay entered the service March 26, 1917, with Company K, First Iowa Infantry. He was transferred to Company K, 133rd Infantry 34th Division at Camp Cody, which he left to attend Officers' Training School at Camp Stanley, Texas. He was commissioned in the Infantry and sent overseas August 31, 1918, in command of the 19th Co. Infantry, Camp Pike July Replacement Draft and was stationed in England. He was discharged February 13, 1919, from Camp Dodge. He had also served on the Mexican Border in 1916, with the First Iowa Infantry.
