This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 8 Ona W. Stephens Washington, Iowa Ona W. Stephens of Washington was born at Clarinda, Iowa, on April 30, 1893. He was the son of John W. Stephens and Lucy Reed. Army Record Private Stephens entered the service April 30, 1918, at Camp Dodge. He was transferred to Camp Travis, May 23, and assigned to Bakery Co. 336. From there he was transferred to Camp Mills and embarked for overseas July 5, landing July 22. He was stationed at Nevers, France, and was transferred to Pains, September 20. He died of pneumonia February 5, 1919 at St. Jean De Mont, Vendee, France.
