This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 9 George S. Wells Kalona, Iowa George S. Wells of Kalona, was born at Kalona, Iowa on September 29, 1890. He was the son of James Wells and Sarah Tubbs. Army Record Private Wells entered the service at Camp Pike, July 22, 1918. He was assigned to the 21st Company, Camp Pike Replacement Draft. He was transferred to Camp Mills and embarked for overseas September 13, 1918. He contracted the Spanish Influenza and this caused pneumonia. He died on October 1, in a hospital in France.
