This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 20 Marshal Lane Wilkin Washington, Iowa Marshal Lane Wilkin of Washington, was born in Franklin Township, on June 6, 1898. He is the son of Harold Leroy Wilkin and Aletha Bell Ginkins. He is a graduate of Washington High School. Army Record Sergeant Wilkin entered the service April 4, 1917, in Co. K, First Iowa, at Washington. He was transferred to Co. K, 133rd Infantry, 34th Division. He landed overseas Oct. 28, 1918, and was then transferred to Co. B, 308th Infantry, 77th Division. He was an instructor in bayonet and rifle practice At Camp Cody, N. M. He was discharged May 18, 1919, at Camp Dodge.
