This biography was copied from "Washington County in the World War", page 20 W. Palmer Wilson Washington, Iowa W. Palmer Wilson of Washington, was born at Washington, Iowa, on May 22, 1898. He is the son of John S. Wilson and Eva Palmer. He is a graduate of Washington High School. Army Record First Sergeant Wilson entered the service March 28, 1917, at Washington in Co. K, First Iowa Infantry. He was transferred to Co. K, 168th Infantry 42nd Division stationed at Camp Mills, L. I., N. Y. He landed overseas December 1, 1917 and was stationed in the Luneville-Baccart Sector for training. He took part in the battles of Champagne, Chateau-Thierry, St. Mihiel, Argonne and Sedan. In the St. Mihiel drive he was wounded by a machine gun bullet September 12, 1918. He was discharged May 17, 1919 from Camp Dodge, Iowa.
