Embree, 89, one of the last surviving veterans of the civil war, died at his home here at 12:30 p.m. today. The body was taken to Keota, and funeral services will be held Friday afternoon. Born November 14, 1847, in New London, Iowa, he was the son of Mr. & Mrs. James T. Embree, early settlers in Henry County. He was married in 1874 to Maggie Phillips, who survives him. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Herman Berg, Davenport; three sons, Lee Embree, Cedar Rapids; Forrest Embree, on the home farm in Keokuk county, and Will Embree, north of West Chester.
