Services were held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona with Pastor Rolland Smith officiating. Burial was in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Margaret Scott was born October 14, 1933 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of J. Homer and Myrtle (Booth) Vincent. She attended Bunker Hill rural school. She graduated from Wellman High School in 1952 and Iowa State University in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics. She was a member of the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona. She was united in marriage to Richard Scott on September 7, 1968 at the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona. She worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for nearly 30 years as a Clinical Dietitian before retiring in 1997. She served as a director and vice president of the Wellman Coop Telephone, Washington County 4-H Committee and the Mid-Prairie Council of Churches. Mrs. Scott was a member of the Friendship Force and Barn Quilts of Washington County. Mrs. Scott is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Hess of Washington; son Michael and wife Kathleen Scott of Westgate; grandchildren: Jayme and Sara Hess of Orange City, Jason Hess of Washington, Jacob, Rachel, John, Mary, Benjamin, Naomi, Adam and Hannah Scott of Westgate; a brother Gene and wife Arlene Vincent of Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, a brother John Vincent, sister-in-law Shirley Vincent, and a nephew Brian Vincent.
