	Betty C. Fletcher, 90, Onawa, died Sunday, January 12, 1997, at 
Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa.
	She was born April 18, 1906, near Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew 
J. and Selma (Youngstrom) Carlson.  She married Dale Fletcher March 12, 1925, 
at Sioux City.  The couple farmed in the Whiting and Sloan area until 1953.  
They farmed at Soldier until moving into Onawa in 1970.  Mr. Fletcher died 
October 14, 1970, at Onawa.  

	Survivors include one son, Wayne and his wife Joanne Fletcher of 
Chariton, Iowa; three daughters, Jana Barnes of Salix, Cleta and her husband 
Bernard Nipp, Downing, CA, and Betty and her husband Tony Swanson of Sloan; 
twenty two grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great great 
grandchild; one sister, Ruby Morton of Whiting; and two sisters-in-law, Goldie 
Carlson of Onawa and Frances Fletcher of Whiting and a son-in-law, Don Barnes.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Denny; 
two brothers, Edwin and Howard and two sisters, Florence Wilson and Leona 
Everson.
