He passed away February 6, 1974, at the age of 49. Robert grew to manhood and lived in the Correctionville community. On September 21, 1946, he was united in marriage with Shirley Jane Watson in Correctionville. To this union 5 children were born. He entered military service in July 1944 and was discharged from the Army after having served in the European theater of operation. During this time he was sounded in action. Robert was a member of the American Legion, Mumford-Moon Post #79, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sioux Valley Post #1750, and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 054. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Opal and Brother Oral. Survivors include his widow, 2 daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Barbara) Ketelsen, and Mrs. Duane (Denise) Nippert of Correctionville, 3 sons, Steven of Sioux City, Michael and Keith at home, 1 sister, Mrs. Franklin (Gertrude) Lambert of Sioux ity, 1 granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 9,1974, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Leach officiating. Interment was in the Correctionville Cemetery with Military Rites by Mumford-Moon Post #79, under direction of Baker Funeral Home.
