Charles A. Newman                         (From the collection of Vivian Norby 
Andersen)

	SALIX, Iowa – Charles A. Newman, 82, of Salix died Saturday in a 
hospital in Onawa.
	
	Mr. Newman was born July 12, 1901, in Monona County, near Mapleton, 
IA.  He married Olive Burke Dec. 20, 1924, in Sioux City.   She died Dec. 28, 
1976.  Survivors include one son, James of Salix; three daughters, Mrs. 
Richard (Dorothy) Kahabke of Burnsville, Minn., one daughter  of Dodge City, 
Neb., and one daughter of Smithland; two brothers, Leonard of Mapleton and 
Leland of Battle Creek; one sister, Mrs. Orville (Beulah) Lucas of Smithland; 
18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
