    Mae L. Newsom, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at a Sioux 
City hospital.
     Mae L. Newsom was born May 4, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Alfred 
and Myrtle (Nelson) Persons. She married Merle G. Newsom on July 6, 1944, in 
Sioux City. He died May 5, 1966, in Sioux City. 
       Survivors include a son, Mark and his wife, Melissa of Omaha, Neb.; 
three grandchildren; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Kennedy and 
his wife, Ruth of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Marvin Berens of Sioux City; 
nieces, Susan Blankenship and her husband, Ted of Clarkston, Wash., Carol 
Harder and her husband, Fred of Ankeny, Iowa, and Sandy Cripps and her 
husband, Mark of Sioux City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a 
brother, Alfred; and two sisters, Darlene and Betty.
