OBITUARY: Maureen A. "Babe" Blood, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor Newspaper online - www.northwoodanchor.com - November 27, 2001] Rites held for Maureen Blood, 89, November 21 Funeral services for Maureen A. "Babe" Blood, 89, was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel with Pastors Philip and Marilyn Peters officiating. Mrs. Blood passed away Sunday, Nov. 18 at Thorne Crest Retirement Center. Maureen was born on February 5, 1912 in Albert Lea, MN, to Harry B. and Dena A. (Ellingson) Garrity. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and worked for many years at the former Wilson & Co. meat processing plant in Albert Lea until her retirement. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, and a long time member of the Elks Lodge, involvement with the Does. She loved music and loved to play music. She formed a women's singing group, The Kulana Ukettes, and entertained for many happy years for various organizations and benefits. She loved her Siamese cats and enjoyed the rest of her life. She is survived by her nephew, Steven R. Johnson and wife, Linda of Hayward, MN and their three children, Mrs. Gary (Jill) Erickson and their children, Justin and Julie; Anthony Johnson and wife, Mary; Mrs. Mike (Stacy) Swank; niece, Mary Jo Engen and her three children, Mrs. Gary (Melissa) Opsahl and their children Miraha Behle, Mick Behle, Colton Opsahl; Shane Engen and wife Suzi; Jason Engen and his son, Stephan; cousin, Pat Garrity and other relation. She is preceded in death by her former husband, Russ Blood; sister, Marvyl Johnson and parents, Harry and Dena Garrity.
