OBITUARY: Martin Fred Broitzman, Worth County, Iowa [The Northwood Anchor -- www.northwoodanchor.com -- September 04, 2001] Martin Fred Broitzman [1913-2001] Services held for Broitzman Funeral services for Martin F. Broitzman, 88, Northwood, were Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Myrtle. Rev. Daniel Baker officiating. Interment was in Wanderer's Rest Cemetery, rural Gordonsville. Martin died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. Martin Fred Broitzman was born on Aug. 23, 1913 in Shellrock Township, the son of Bernhard and Lizzie (Wolff) Broitzman. He was baptized on Sept. 14, 1913 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church by Rev. J. O. Staehling, confirmed on May 11, 1930 at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood by Rev. J. A. Ylirsaker. On Sept. 21, 1938 he married Ingebor Oakland at the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. Martin farmed all of his life in Shellrock Township until his health forced him to move to Austin, where he lived for five years. He has been a resident of Northwood for the last two years. Martin attended District 104 School. He was very active in his church and community. Survivors include his wife Ingebor of Northwood; children Betty Broitzman of Baton Rouge, LA, Marlene and husband David Nelson, Glenville, Duane and his wife Deb Broitzman, Glenville, and Carolyn Yocom, Austin; special niece Lorraine and her husband David Horning; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; special great-nieces Julie Hunt and family of Illinois, Joan Pillera and family of Lakeville and Vicki Hanson and family of Clarks Grove; brothers and sisters Wilmer and his wife Nadine Broitzman of Glenville, Mable Perleberg of Glenville and Harold and his wife Doris Broitzman of Northwood; sister-in-law Helen Broitzman of Austin and many nieces and nephews.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Dorothy; grandson Wayne David Nelson; sister Edna Leidal; brothers Edward and Leaon Broitzman and brother-in-law Harlan Perleberg.
