OBITUARY: Douglas Carnes, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor Newspaper online - www.northwoodanchor.com - Dec. 04, 2001] Doug Carnes of Illinois dies at age 38 Funeral services for Douglas William Carnes were Monday, Nov. 26 at Faith Lutheran Church, Homewood, IL. Rev. Dr. Timothy Knauff officiated and burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, IA. He died Nov. 21, 2001. Douglas was born on May 7, 1963 in Davenport, IA the son of DuWayne and Bonnie Carnes of Olympia Fields, IL. He was the brother of Greg (Janice) Carnes of Rural Hall, NC, uncle to Lindsay and Morgan Carnes of Rural Hall, NC and grandson of Douglas and Norma Carnes of Northwood and the late Dr. William and the late Irene Bakkum. He worked as Director of Finance for the Brunswick Corporation. He was a member of the Illinois CPA Society, Muskies Unlimited and was an avid fisherman. He was a volunteer for the Lake County Literacy Program. He spoke often to elementary schools regarding life as a quadriplegic.
