OBITUARY: Alden H. Gangstad, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor Newspaper online - www.northwoodanchor.com - November 27, 2001] Alden Gangstad rites in Wisconsin Nov. 19 Funeral services for Alden H. Gangstad, 75, of Madison, WI were held Monday, Nov. 19 at St Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, Deerfield, WI. The Rev. Dan Anderson officiated. Military Rites were conducted by Madison Firing Squad. Al was born in Deerfield, WI, the son of Morris and Lillian (Kingland) Gangstad. He married Edna Allen of Mineral Point, WI. They made their home in Deerfield and Madison. There are three daughters Linda (Bruce) Hughes of Verona, WI, Connie (Pat) O'Neil of Middleton, WI, and Karen (Bruce) Gilbertson of Prairie Du Sac, WI and six grandchildren. Mr. Gangstad served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge he was employed as an electrician and then a semi-driver for Neuendorf Trucking. After retiring, he was a security driver for Loomis. He was a member of Teamsters Local #695, the Deerfield Legion, the Deerfield-Cambridge VFW Post #9424, St. Pauls Liberty Lutheran Church, and past volunteer for the Deerfield Fire Dept. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. He is survived by his sister Marion Simonson of Madison, his brother Lowell (Leila) of Northwood, IA, his sister-in-law Eldora Gangstad of Deerfield, and six nieces and other relatives and many friends. Alden was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna, his brother Hamlin, his brother-in-law Lloyd Simonson, and a niece, Judy Simonson.
